Many of the figurines depict winged elves with wolf companions
Most of the figurines depict elves with dragons - but there are many that include wolves instead.
Wolves are similar to dogs - although obviously much more wild and agressive. Because of this similarity, there are many fantasy books that feature wolves as companions - some involving single wolves and others involving a full wolf pack.
Our fantasy origin story is written from the perspective of Talanoa - one of the Wolf Mistress figurines. Visit the Story link at the top of the page to read the story.

Ravens also appear prominently in the figurines
Fantasy stories often include raven companions, used to carry messages and summon help - so it is not surpring to see ravens depicted in the figurines.
But a few of the figurines clearly depict classic Raven Mistresses.
Raven Mistresses appear in some fantasy books and films - the most famous example being Ravenna in the films: Snow White and the Huntsman and The Huntsman Winters War.
Ravenna has powers far beyond those of a classic Raven Mistress, as she actually transforms into a flock of ravens.
A more conventional raven mistress has a flock of raven companions.
She can commune with her ravens - and even use "Raven Vision", allowing her to see through the eyes of her ravens.
